Missions
Guatemala
Every November from 2008 to 2012, the UniversalAthroscopy team collaborated in 5 consecutive missions with the «Brother Pedro’s social work» in the city of Antigua (Guatemala), collaborating with the «Operation Walk» project (http://operationwalk.org/).
Perú
In April 2010, a group of 12 people traveled to Iquitos, in the Loreto region of Peru. During a week, the team trained 17 students among them orthopedic surgeons, instrumentalists, anesthetists, local health workers and computer specialists. 35 knee arthroscopies were performed for meniscal pathology and 2 anterior cruciate ligament plasties.
Ethiopia
In June 2013, a second team of 8 people carried out a mission similar to that of Iquitos at CURE Ethiopia Children’s Hospital where 12 students were trained among orthopedic surgeons, instrumentalists, anesthetists and local health personnel. Twenty-five knee arthroscopies were performed for meniscal pathology and anterior cruciate ligament plasty.
Baikal
The project is created for any country in the world that is interested in health education through telemedicine. Having completed missions in Peru, Ethiopia, Guatemala, it is gradually expanding to other countries. Our next project is scheduled for September 2019 in Russia: Ulan-Ude, Republican Clinical Hospital is named after Semashko, Dr. Evgeny Shigaev. In addition to the training, a channel of the telemedicine will be installed to guarantee permanent learning.
